 Parue le : mercredi 30 janvier 2013

After the very successful FEI World Championships for Combined Ponies in 2011 and a small international competition in 2012, the Lipizzaner Stud Farm Lipica in Slovenia is taking the driving to the next level this year. From 4 to 7 July, the horse team drivers will get the unique opportunity to win World Cup points in Lipica while the pair and pony competitors are warmly welcomed to prepare for their respective World Championships at this wonderful international driving event. The international driving competition held in Lipica is open for all classes ; singles, pairs and teams of horses and singles, pairs and teams of ponies.
It is the first time that the horse teams will start in Lipica and the organization is aiming for many drivers : “We are aware of the fact that our event takes place the weekend after the CHIO Aachen which will probably mean that those top drivers won’t be able to start in Lipica. But there are many other top drivers who can’t start in Aachen but who do want to win valuable World Cup points. We are very much looking forward to welcome these drivers in Lipica,” says Janez Rus, manager of the Stud Farm Lipica.

The FEI World Championships for Combined Ponies in 2011 were the first International Driving Championships held in Lipica and the organization is ready for more. “We would like to organize another International Driving Championship in the future. The driving sport has become an important part of the Stud Farm Lipica and this offers us the unique opportunity to promote both our Lipizzaner Stud Farm and the Driving Sport in Slovenia.”
To enable as many drivers as possible to start in Lipica, the organization has chosen the first weekend in July instead of the traditional September date.
For the pony drivers and the horse pair drivers, the international combined driving competition in Lipica from 4 to 7 July offers a perfect opportunity to qualify their horses and ponies and to prepare for the World Championships, which will take place several months later.

The organization is proud to present the international Ground Jury, which is composed of : Joaquin Medina (ESP), Marie de Ronde (NED) , Dot Willcoxson (AUS), Attila Kelemen (ROU) , Stefan Keszycki (POL).

The course design is in the capable hands of O-course designer Gábor Fintha (HUN), who is responsible for the courses at many international (World Cup) competitions and World Championships. Fintha is also the course designer of the FEI World Pair Driving Championships in Topolcianky (SVK) at the end of August.

The FEI schedule will be available soon.
