Stable area and campsite
The organizing committee with President Michael Horny and Philip Bateman visited the locations of the stable area, the competitor’s campsite, the main arena for the dressage and the obstacle driving competitions and the eight marathon obstacles.
It was decided to locate the stable area on the main grounds of the National Stud Farm next to the riding school. The competitors will be able make use of the standard fixed facilities of the building, such as power and water. A wash rack with several different taps and hoses will be realized centrally located on a stone surface.
The competitors can use the sand warm up arena in the stable area for riding and lungeing.
The campsite will be around 500 meters away from the stable area, but is easily accessible, via a special road, by bicycle, moped or quad bike ; all of which the Competitors are welcome to bring to the Event. The Campsite is situated very close to all the Competition areas and the Show Offices.
To create a true arena atmosphere, tribunes will enclose the Main dressage and obstacle-driving arena.
The eight obstacles are situated within walking distance of the arena to allow the spectators to follow the competitors in the marathon from close by.
There will be three new obstacles built before the World Championships ; the other five existing obstacles will be modified.
Bateman is happy with the way the preparations are progressing and with the time scale : ’The team of National Stud Farm Topoľčianky carries out the day-to-day work. This is a very good team with capable people and they all understand horses as well ! Everything goes according to the plan and will be ready in time for the World Championships at the end of August.’
Bateman went around the marathon course and this part is also looking well. The 7 kilometer long A-section is on forest tracks around the beautiful surroundings of Topoľčianky Stud Farm. There will be no less than three warming up areas, all on grass. The road by the stable area is reserved for the horse inspection of the expected 210 competing horses.
Topoľčianky has many years of experience in organizing national and international driving events. “We are proud that FEI has selected us to host the 2013 FEI World Pair Driving Championships. We feel certain that the rich experience we have acquired will be of great help to us in organising what will be Topoľčianky’s most demanding event yet. We are sure that the Driving Championship competitors will be able to join the ranks of the equestrian athletes who hold fond and happy memories of Topoľčianky,” said Michal Horny, the director of National Stud Farm Topoľčianky and President of the Organizing Committee.
